TIME: Wed, May 2, 1:30pm PLACE: Room 5115 Herzberg SPEAKER: Mathieu Couture TITLE: Topology Control in Ad Hoc Wireless Networks ABSTRACT: Topology control aims to an optimal use of energy and bandwidth in ad hoc wireless networks. Generally speaking, topology control regroups a set of problems related to the distributed establishment of a structure allowing nodes to efficiently communicate with each other. In this proposal, we address the following four topology control problems: 1) fault-tolerant clustering, 2) channel assignment, 3) link selection in wide area mesh networks and 4) establishment of a routing backbone. I will present current solutions that we have to address problems 1 and 2 and discuss preliminary results about problems 3 and 4.
