Due to the increasing need for data access online, original repository of web page, HTML can no longer fulfil the requirements. People put many efforts into browsing, keyword searching, web information extraction and etc. technologies to efficiently retrieve and filter the useful data from the web pages on line. But no method so far get the ideal solution for that. Consequently, people begin to concentrate on the sulotion from the scratch, the phase of web page designing. The goal of separating content from layout is proposed during the beginning of web page designing. Many technologies have emerged since then. In this presentation, we take an overview of some of the well-known technologies in this aspect and do some comparison according some metrics. Based on the analysis, we can find there's still a common drawback for all of the technologies so far. Finally we give out our proposal of the further research to cover that drawback.
