Geometric Meeting Scheduler

Youngsoo Roh

Abstract. These days, location information can be easily obtained through the personalized GPS (Global Positioning System) device. In some countries, PDAs with built-in GPS are readily available for commercial or emergency use. This information can be used to develop meeting scheduler that provides not only the meeting time but also the location that the proposed meeting can be held. Conventional meeting schedulers do not consider geometric aspect of users when scheduling meeting. Geographic location of a person can significantly contribute to the result of meeting schedule. For example, it is obvious that scheduling a meeting with a person in Ottawa has to be considered differently from a person in Vancouver.

The presentation will be focused on defining the Geometric Meeting Scheduling Problem and providing efficient algorithms to solve this problem on a large-scale road network.
