Due to the increasing usage of email for communications, effective email management is becoming more and more important. People put a lot of efforts into email organizing, storing, searching to efficiently manage and maintain the useful information in the emails.
There are several kinds of email system that people use extensively, which are "directory-based" (smc), "folder-based" (outlook), "search-based" (yahoo bloomba), and so on. This talk will analyze these systems and also present a novel method to effectively and efficiently organize, manage, maintain, and search emails based on database technologies. We call the new system is a "category-based" email management system, because it manages emails by using categories, instead of directories or folders in traditional email systems.
As opposed to directory-based or folder-based, category-based email system allows an email to be classified to more than one category, and a category also could have multiple parent categories. These features give users flexibility to organize their emails by various categories. Therefore, the category-based email system makes email management more effectively than ever before.
