Introduction to Supply Planning
John Howat
Supply chains are responsible for transforming raw materials into finished goods that are ready for consumers. Modern supply chains are extraordinarily complex: product structures are deep, manufacturing sites are distributed across the globe, and the volume of demand is often volatile. The area of Supply Planning is concerned primarily with deciding where supply needs to be in the network, at what time, and in what quantity. In this talk, I will give an introduction to the domain of Supply Planning, as well as an overview of how some problems in the domain can be solved.
